Blue Jean Baby

This pair of jeans has got to be one of my favorite pairs of all time. The wide waistband, dark wash, stretchy denim, and slim fit through the knees make the J Brand Love Story one of the most flattering pairs of jeans for anyone in my opinion. And especially for someone with a short, stubby torso like myself, the low rise helps elongate my upper half. Skinny jeans have had their moment, but I am ready for flares to make an official comeback (although I still believe that skinny jeans are now a wardrobe staple). Remember that no matter what style of jean is trendy, the pair that will always be in style for you is that pair that fits your body best and make you feel like Cindy Crawford.

Estos pantalones de mezclilla tienen que ser mis preferidos de toda mi vida. La cinturilla ancha, el color oscuro, la mezclilla elastico, y el corte delgado en las piernas les hacen que favorecen mucho el cuerpo de cualquier persona. Y para alguien que tiene el torso chaparrito como yo, la subida baja del pantalon ayuda alargando mi mitad de arriba. Los “skinny jeans” ya tuvieron su gran momento (aunque sigo creyendo que son una esencial para tu guardarropa), estoy lista para que regresan los pantalones acampanados. Sin embargo, es bien importante saber que aunque un estilo de pantalon de mezclilla esta de moda, el estilo que siempre va a estar de moda para ti es lo que te queda mejor y que te hace sentir como Cindy Crawford.

Most of the outfits I showcase on my blog are either professional or casual because I usally take my photos right before heading to work or when I have downtime on the weekends. The one I am wearing here is a bit more elegant because I had a little extra time before starting my day, so I decided to snap some quick photos before changing into an office-appropriate blouse.

I had completely forgotten about the MNG by Mango skirt I bought back in December. I just love discovering things in my closet I forgot I had. It´s very similar to the rush of buying something new. Anyways, after seeing all the goregeous black lace in NYFW photos, I got inspired and wore my “new” skirt with one of my very favorite (and old) lace tops. I think this look would be great dressed up with some costume jewelry for a nice dinner or a special occasion. What do ya´ll think?

Casi todos mis outfits que enseño aquí están profesionales o casuales porque normalmente tomo las fotos antes de irme a trabajar o durante los fines cuando tengo tiempo libre. Aquí tengo un outfit mas elegante puesto porque tenia un poco de tiempo extra antes de empezar mi día, entonces tome unas fotos rápidas antes de cambiarme la blusa para ir a trabajar. 

Se me había olvidado de esta falda de MNG por Mango que compre en diciembre. Me encanta descubrir cosas en mi guardarropa que se me había olvidado que tenía. Es casi como el sentimiento que tengas cuando compras algo nuevo. Comoquiera, después de ver todo el encaje hermoso en las pasarelas de NYFW, me inspiré y puse mi “nueva” falda con una de mis blusas favoritas (y viejas) de encaje. Creo que este look sería muy bueno con unas joyas “costume” para una cena formal o una ocasión especial. Que opinan ustedes?

Texas Flare

I would not say this is the most professional outfit, but it is probably the only way you can get away with by wearing (faux) leather and cowboy boots to work. My Texas roots are a big part of who I am and a big inspiration in my fashion choices, so I love incorporating Texas flare into my wardrobe, like cowboy boots (of course!), denim, leather, suede, or fringe, even if they are for the office.

This skirt has probably been one of my best purchases. I definitely recommend investing in a leather or faux leather pencil skirt because of its versatility. The shape is perfect for the office and the texture is just right for grabbing dinner and drinks afterwards.

No diria que esto es el outfit mas profesional, pero probablemente es la unica manera en que se permite llevar (plasti)piel y botas vaqueras al trabajo. Mis raices tejanas son una gran parte de quien soy y tambien una gran inspiracion de mis decisiones de moda, entonces me encanta incorporar elementos tejanos en mi guardarropa como botas vaqueras (por supuesto!), mezclilla, gamusa, o tirantes aunque es para la oficina. 

Esta falda ha sido de mis mejores compras. Yo recomiendo que invierten en una falda lapiz de (plasti)piel por su versatilidad. El corte es ideal para la oficina y la textura es excelente para salir a cenar despues. 

Repeat Offender

I love when you find a piece for your wardrobe that works with everything. My piece this winter season has been this oatmeal-colored, bat-wing turtleneck sweater (worn here). What else was I supposed to wear to tone down a patent leather mini skirt and tall, black sheath boots? Well, of course, my oatmeal color turtleneck sweater! The loose shape and neutral color add the perfect balance to my almost-femme-fatale outfit. Joan Rivers would have a ball cackling at me for being a repeat offender, but I love getting mileage out of clothing in which I invest my time and money. What about everyone else? What are the pieces in your closet that you have on repeat rotation?

Me encanta cuando encuentras una pieza para tu guardarropa que combina con todo. Mi pieza este invierno es este cuello de tortugo color avena (puesto aqui). Que otra cosa debo de poner para bajar el volumen de una mini falta de charol y botas altas? Pues un cuello de tortuga de color avena! El corte suelto y el color neutral agregan el balance ideal a mi look casi femme fatale. Joan Rivers se divertiera bastante conmigo por andar repetiendo outfits, pero me encanta sacar todo lo que pueda de mi ropa porque invierto mi dinero y tiempo. Y ustedes? Cuales son las piezas en tu guardarropa que se ponen siempre?

I have news for whoever said wearing white after Labor Day is a fashion faux paux, especially when you live in the land of sand, sunshine and TEQUILA! I realize everyone does not live in Mexico, but this color palette is too neutral and versatile to not wear year around. If you incorporate heavier fabrics and off-white tones into your look, you can rock white as much as you like throughout the fall and winter months. Wearing timeless pieces like a silk, ivory tank with off-white trousers during the fall can take you from the office (with a blazer, for example) to dinner with friends afterwards (with a leather jacket). And remember, rules are made to me broken 😉

Tengo noticias para la persona que dijo que no se puede poner blanco despues del verano, y mas cuando vives en la tierra de arena, sol y TEQUILA! Entiendo que todos no viven en Mexico, pero este palete de este color es demasiado neutral y versatil para no ponerlo en todo el año. Si incorporas telas mas gruesas y tonos de color marfil, puedes rockear blanco como tu quieras durante los meses otoñales e invernales. Prendas indespensables como un tank de seda color marfil y pantalones blancos te puede llevar de la oficina (con un saco arriba, por ejemplo) a cenar con amigos despues (con una chaqueta de piel). Y acuerdate que las reglas se han hecho para romperse 😉

If you didn’t know by now, the red wine/oxblood color that is all over the place is one of my favorite colors this season. I bought these oxblood “faux” leather pants back in September, and even though temperatures were in the upper 80’s in Monterrey, I just could not wait to wear them! Oxblood is the new black; it’s easy to combine and purchasing a key piece that you wear often (jeans, a jacket, booties, etc.) in this bordeaux shade quickly updates your wardrobe.

I also like the billowy blouses combined with the slim pants and stilettos (which remind me so much of these by Alexander Wang) since they really balance each other out. Pairing these bloody pants with the killer heels made for a perfect pre-Halloween look 🙂

Si no supiste, el color “vino tinto” o “oxblood” que esta en todos lados es uno de mis colores preferidos esta temproada. Compre estos pantalones de plasti-piel en septiembre, y aun las temperaturas en Monterrey estaban en los 80’s en Monterrey, no podia esperar mas tiempo para ponermelos! Oxblood es el nuevo negro; esta facil de combinar y comprando una pieza clave (pantalones de mexclilla, un saco, botines, etc.) en este rojo obscuro actualiza tu guardarropa facilmente.

Tambien me gusta la blusa aguada combinado con los pantalones “skinny” y los stilletos (cuales me recuerdan de estos por Alexander Wang) porque se balancean mucho. Juntando estos pantalones en color sangre con unos tacones matones se hace un look perfecto antes de Halloween 🙂

I always love a long-sleeved dresses paired with boots during the fall, so when I tried on this dress at Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago, I could not have been happier. It encompasses so many characteristics of a perfect dress: a great length, fitted (but not too tight), comfortable, and best of all, versatile enough to go from day to night. With so many black dresses we collect in our closets, a fun print is sometimes a nice change as well.  What more could you want out of a dress?

Siempre me encantan los vestidos de larga manga con botas en el otoño, y cuando probe este vestido en Urban Outfitters hace una semanas, no pudiera estar mas feliz. Tiene tantas caracteristicas del vestido perfect: excelente corte, pegado (pero no embarrado), comodo, y sobre todo, es versatil para ir de dia a noche. Con tantas vestidos negros en nuestros guardarropas, un estampado divertido tambien es un buen alternativo. Que mas quieres de un vestido?

After giving a facelift to my photos, blog format, and finding the courage to get in front of the camera, I am back!

At work this Friday, we celebrated the International Day of Peace by wearing all white to work, and as with any special dress code, I like to have a little bit of fun. I decided to add black accents to my outfit since I am really loving all the black and white I have been seeing for this fall. Such a classic and versatile color palette. I also love the nod to the Mexican culture with the Day of the Dead “calavera” on my tank:) I recommend investing in a tuxedo blazer since it is a great piece that can dress up a casual outfit or that you can wear to work or out on the town.

Despues de una mejora a mis fotos y teniendo el valor para estar enfrente de la camara, ya regrese!

En el trabajo el viernes pasado, fetejamos el dia internacional de la paz vistiendonos en ropa blanca, y como todos los codigos de vestir especiales, me gusta divertirme con ellos. Decidi agregar acentos negros a mi outfit, debido que ultimamente me encanta todo el blanco y negro que he visto para este otono. Un palete de colores tan clasico y versatil. Tambien me encanta la referencia a Dia de los Muertos con la calavera en mi camisa. Ademas, les recomiendo que invierten en un saco “smoking” porque es una prenda excelente que se puede levantar un outfit casual o que puedes poner para el trabajo o para salir.

On a side note, I would like to mention that this blog is has nothing to with me modeling or taking pictures of myself for my Facebook profile picture. It really is about my passion for fashion, and the main focus should be on the clothing/accessories/looks you see in my photos 🙂
